Beauty Behaves Like Truth

When something is beautiful, you don’t say, “I like this”, but rather, “this is beautiful”. It calls for agreement. It can actually sting with how directly it points beyond us.

Mathematical elegance causes awe.

Moral beauty causes healing.

We take pleasure but we attend to beauty.

It survives pain and we feel addressed, clearer, and corrected by it.

And it appears built-in to reality.

When I am acting in honesty, I am able to more clearly see what is gorgeous.

Beauty behaves like Truth
